Scite is an academic search and citation analysis platform designed to help researchers understand how a paper has been used in subsequent research. It uses Smart Citations to display citation context and offers search functionality, AI-powered research Q&A, and literature collections, making it suitable forLiterature Review and WritingCheck the source of the evidence.

Seeing the Context Behind the Quote

Smart Citations categorizes cited statements into three types: supportive, contradictory, or merely mentioned. By accessing the “Report” for a paper, you can view the original statements cited in it and filter them by category, chapter, year, and other criteria. This allows you to further determine whether subsequent research builds on the methodology, discusses the background, or presents findings that differ from those in the original study.

These categories serve as reading cues. Contradictory citations do not necessarily invalidate an entire paper, nor do supporting citations equate to independent, independent verification; when evaluating them, it is necessary to examine the context of the citations, the experimental conditions, and the research methods.

Search and Ongoing Monitoring

• Search:Search for articles by title, author, keywords, or DOI, or search for citations extracted from the full text to identify methods and viewpoints not mentioned in the abstract.

Scite is designed to help researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers track evidence based on existing papers. Database coverage and full-text access rights may affect the citations that are visible; when records supporting or contradicting a finding are not displayed, one should not directly infer that the study’s conclusions are uncontroversial.
