HeyGen is an open-source agent-based video creation tool that uses HTML, styles, and scripts to organize scenes and render videos.

What are HyperFrames?

HyperFrames is maintained by the HeyGen team and is designed to enable agents to participate in video creation. It allows video frames, animations, and layouts to be described through code, making it ideal for creating editable videos from product documentation, charts, or explanatory content—without relying solely on manual frame-by-frame editing.

What Kinds of Jobs Are Suitable?

  • Product and Feature Overview: Combine interface elements, titles, captions, and animations to create short videos.
  • Knowledge Explanation: Videos explaining documentation, showcasing code changes, and presenting data visualizations.
  • Content Pipeline: Organize recurring visual structures into templates, then replace the assets and copy.

Before use, you still need to organize your scripts, source material, and pacing; automated content generation cannot replace securing rights to source material, fact-checking, and reviewing the final product.

How to use

  1. First, determine the aspect ratio, duration, and a central storyline, and gather images, videos, and audio clips that you have permission to use.
  2. Install the CLI environment according to the official documentation, which requires Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg; or use the official desktop launcher.
  3. Create a project, organize HTML screens and animations, and use the preview to check the subtitles and timing.
  4. After rendering the MP4, check the text, audio-video synchronization, and source material segment by segment before deciding whether to publish it.

The official website provides desktop versions for macOS and Linux; the Windows desktop version is marked as "Coming soon." Both the browser preview and the final export require quality checks.

HyperFrames is licensed under the Apache 2.0 License. This does not mean that all of HeyGen’s commercial services are open source or free; when calling upon external models, voice services, or media resources, users remain subject to the respective pricing and terms.
