What is Quark AI?

QuarkThis product combines AI capabilities with a browser, search, cloud storage, and file management tools. It often starts with the webpage or file the user is currently viewing: after opening the material, users can ask questions directly, extract information, compare multiple pages, and then organize the results into a document. For users who frequently need to look up web pages, read PDFs, and save materials, this approach reduces the need to copy content and switch between windows.

Quark was launched in 2016 and was originally a browser incubated internally at Alibaba. On March 13, 2025, Alibaba announced an upgrade to Quark AI...further integrate conversations, thinking, research, and task processing based on the Tongyi model into the application. The browser’s initial launch occurred at a different stage from this round of AI upgrades; therefore, 2025 should not be considered the launch date of the Quark product.

Today, Quark covers web browsing, PDF processing, scanning and OCR, and cross-device data access. The following sections cover the “Ask AI” sidebar, multi-tab citations, and screen sharing, primarily using the desktop version as an example; please check the respective platforms for their entry points and available features.

Main features of Quark AI

Web Q&A: Let the Questions Flow Naturally from the Source Material

Open the webpage on your computer, click the “Ask AI” sidebar, and you can ask questions about the current page. In addition to text, Quark can also analyze images and charts on the page to generate summaries, provide explanations, and extract information. It’s ideal for asking detailed questions while reading product specifications, research reports, tutorials, and course materials—for example, “What units are used in this chart?” or “What are the assumptions underlying this conclusion?”

Page content can also be organized into Word, PDF, or Excel files and downloaded. For example, you can convert a product specifications page into a filterable parameter table, or organize a lengthy tutorial into a step-by-step checklist. After extraction, you should cross-check the original text to verify units, table headers, and footnotes—especially numbers in images and content that spans multiple pages.

Multi-label Summary: Comparing Multiple Sources by the Same Dimension

When researching the same topic, you can reference multiple web pages or PDF tabs at the same time, allowing the AI to extract common information, identify differences, or conduct a comprehensive analysis. To do this, click the “+” button in the home page search bar or sidebar to add tabs, or use the “@” symbol to select the pages you want to reference. First, specify the comparison criteria—such as features, applicable conditions, and limitations—as this will yield more verifiable results than simply asking, “Compare these.”

The official recommendation is to process no more than 10 tabs at a time for more stable results. This is a usage recommendation, not a guarantee of capacity. When dealing with a large amount of data, you can group it by topic, organize each group separately, and then merge the verified results; closing irrelevant tabs also helps reduce distractions.

PDF, Scanning, and Format Processing

PDFs on web pages can be opened directly, and local PDF files can be dragged into the Quark window to continue reading, annotating, editing, translating, or converting formats. Paper documents, photos, and scanned files can be recognized using Quark ScanMaster, after which you can extract or edit the content. Different types of materials present different challenges: for scanned files, you should first check the accuracy of the recognition; for academic papers, you need to preserve chapter headings and page numbers; and after converting files, you should verify that the layout and content remain intact.

Quick Access and Cross-Device Data

The desktop version provides features such as text highlighting, screen capture, a floating toolbar, and screen sharing, making it easy to incorporate the content you’re viewing into your questions. Screen sharing is ideal for explaining what’s currently on your screen; when working continuously on a document, you can choose to share specific applications as needed. Keep the shared area as small as possible to prevent irrelevant chats, passwords, and other private windows from appearing on the screen.

Quark Cloud supports accessing files across computers, smartphones, and tablets. You can continue to view saved files under the same account, and bookmarks and other content can be managed through sync settings. Saving files to the cloud, syncing browser data, and screen sharing involve different data scopes; you should verify each one separately when using these features and should not treat them as a single toggle.

In what situations is Quark suitable?

  • Comparison of Web Resources:Open the product’s official website, specifications page, or service description simultaneously, extract differences using standardized fields, and generate a table that’s easy to filter.
  • Reading of Papers and Reports:Cross-reference questions between the PDF and related web pages, organize concepts, methods, and limitations, and keep the original sources for further reading.
  • Digitization of Paper Documents:Extract the scanned content as editable text or tables, then proofread, categorize, and save it.
  • Learning and Working Across Multiple Devices:Save your files on your phone, then read, edit, and organize them all in one place on your computer, allowing you to continue working on them across different devices.

How to Use Quark to Create a Product Specifications Comparison Chart

  1. Choose a reliable source page.Open the official specification pages and necessary PDF manuals for several products on the Quark desktop app to verify that the model, region, and version match. Do not combine products from different generations or region-specific bundles into a single entry.
  2. Cite the tags you want to compare.Use the “+” or “@” symbols to select relevant pages, keeping only the sources necessary to complete the task at first. You can ask it to list the products and pages that have been cited to check for any incorrect selections.
  3. Specifying Fields and Handling Missing Values. For example: “Organize the comparison table by model, size, weight, ports, and warranty information, retaining the units and sources; for information not listed on the page, write ”Not specified’—do not fill in the blanks on your own.” If comparing prices, also specify the currency, taxes, and the configuration corresponding to each price.
  4. Check whether the differences are genuine.Return to the original page to review key parameters and footnotes, confirming that “optional configurations” have not been listed as standard features and that promotional descriptions have not been mistaken for measurement results. Keep a record of the sources for any conflicting information and continue investigating the cause.
  5. Generate usable files. Please organize the verified results into an Excel file or document, download it, and open it to check the fields, links, and units. Save it to cloud storage as needed, and verify that the file opens properly on another device.

This approach is useful for reducing the need for manual sorting, but the final decision should still be based on actual needs. AI-generated summaries cannot replace the experience of seeing the actual product, nor can they guarantee that the inventory, prices, or after-sales policies listed on the page will not change.

How to Choose Between Quark and Similar AI Browsers

When considering “browsing and comparing multiple webpages simultaneously” as a single task, Quark, Copilot in Microsoft Edge, and Perplexity Comet can be directly compared.

offerings How AI Works During Browsing Needs that should be prioritized
Quark Understand web pages by querying the AI sidebar and tag references, and integrate with PDF files, scanned documents, document exports, and Quark Cloud Drive. In addition to web research, I often work with scanned documents, downloaded files, and data from various devices, and I’d like to consolidate them all into a single set of tools.
Microsoft Edge + Copilot Use the Edge sidebar to summarize web pages, PDFs, and other content, and compare pages; work accounts can integrate with Microsoft 365 resources subject to applicable subscription and organizational permissions. We currently rely primarily on Edge and the Microsoft Office environment, and we hope to continue using our existing browser and organizational management settings.
Perplexity Comet It provides page comprehension and cross-tab analysis via the browser sidebar, and also supports browser tasks explicitly requested by users. I hope to continue using the assistant for research and page interactions while browsing, and I am willing to have my page access and interaction permissions managed on a per-task basis.

All three may be able to read the content of the current page or related tabs. When making a selection, in addition to comparing the quality of the summaries, you should also check the scope of data access, organizational restrictions, export methods, and the websites actually supported.
