Today.MuskSpaceX, the commercial space giant, has officially announced the acquisition of Musk'sAI macromodelUnicorn xAI!According to foreign media reports, people familiar with the matter revealed that SpaceX toUS$250 billion (about Rs. 1.7 trillion)The stock acquired xAI and the merger valued SpaceX at1.25 trillion dollars (about 8.68 trillion yuan).

After the merger, SpaceX is expected to price its stock at $526.59 (roughly Rs. 3,657.96) per share, people familiar with the matter said.

The deal combines two of the world's largest unicorns into one. xAI was just launched in January this year as aUS$230 billion (about RMB 1.6 trillion)Valuation completedUS$20 billion (about RMB 138.93 billion)s Series E financing.

And SpaceX was originally scheduled to launch the program later this year at a cost of aboutUS$800 billion (about RMB 5.6 trillion)The company was valued at launching the “largest IPO in history” and had planned to raiseUS$50 billion (about RMB 347.325 billion)of funding.

With this merger, Musk plans to leverage SpaceX's expertise in rapid launch, satellite manufacturing and management to deployOne million.Orbital data centers to provide the necessary computing power base for xAI.

In the announcement, Musk said the acquisition “creates the most ambitious vertically integrated innovation engine in the history of heaven and earth - encompassing artificial intelligence, rocket technology, the internet in space, direct-connected mobile communications devices, and the world's top platform for real-time information and free speech. ”

Musk believes that terrestrial solutions simply cannot meet the power needs of the global AI industry, and that “Space AI is clearly the only way to achieve scale."

Regarding the Orbital Data Center, he predicted thatSpace will be the least expensive place to generate AI arithmetic in the next 2 to 3 years.. Musk says launching megaton satellites every year will add new100 GWof AI arithmetic with no need for ongoing operations and maintenance. Eventually, it could be possible to launch from Earth every year1 TawaThe goal of arithmetic.

Below is a translation of the original Musk SpaceX announcement:

SpaceX's acquisition of xAI creates the most ambitious vertically integrated innovation engine in the history of space and earth - encompassing Artificial Intelligence, rocket technology, the Internet in space, direct-connected mobile communications devices, and the world's top platform for real-time information and free speech. This is not only a new chapter in SpaceX and xAI's mission, but also the beginning of a new era: we will create sensory suns to understand the mysteries of the universe and spread the light of consciousness across the stars!

Current AI development relies on large, terrestrial data centers, facilities that require staggering power supplies and cooling systems. Even in the near term, terrestrial solutions alone will simply not be able to meet the power needs of the global AI industry without overburdening communities and the environment.

In the long run, space AI is clearly the only way to achieve scale. Capturing just one-millionth of the sun's energy would require a million times more energy than current human civilization consumes!

The only logical solution, therefore, is to move these resource-intensive projects to places where there is unlimited energy and space. After all, the universe isn't called ”space” for nothing. 😂

By directly harnessing near-permanent solar energy (with minimal operation and maintenance costs), these satellites will revolutionize our ability to scale arithmetic power - space is always sunny! Launching a million satellites to form a constellation of orbital data centers is the first step toward a Kardashov II civilization: one that can both fully harness the sun's energy to provide AI-powered applications for billions of people today, and ensure that humanity achieves a future of transplanetary survival.

Orbital Data Center

Never before in the history of spaceflight has it been possible to launch a vehicle capable of launching millions of tons of mass - whether it's needed on that scale to deploy a data center in space, to establish a permanent base on the Moon, or to build a Martian city. Even in 2025, when launches are at an all-time high, only about 3,000 tons of payload will be sent into orbit in a full year, made up mostly of Starlink satellites delivered by our Falcon rockets.

The need to deploy thousands of satellites to orbit had pushed the Falcon program to make iterative improvements, ultimately reaching the unprecedented high-frequency launches needed to realize the Internet in space. This year, Starfleet will begin delivering the more powerful V3 version of Starlink satellites to orbit, adding more than 20 times the capacity to the constellation in a single launch than the current Falcon rocket launches of the V2 version. Starship will also launch a new generation of direct-connect mobile device satellites to provide complete cellular coverage to every corner of the planet.

The need to deploy these satellites will likewise force Starfleet to improve and increase its launch frequency. The sheer number of satellites required for a space data center will push Starfleet to new heights. With the ability to launch once an hour and deliver 200 tons each time, Starfleet will be able to send millions of tons of material into orbit and deeper into space every year, unlocking an exciting future of human exploration of the stars.

Basic calculations show that launching megatons of satellites each year (each ton generating 100 kW of computing power) will add 100 GW of AI computing power without the need for ongoing operations and maintenance. Eventually, the goal of launching 1 terawatt of computing power per year from Earth could be realized.

I expect space to be the least expensive place to generate AI arithmetic in the next 2 to 3 years. This cost advantage alone will be enough to drive innovative companies to train AI models and process data at an unprecedented speed and scale, accelerating the process of breakthroughs in human understanding of the laws of physics and the invention of pervasive technologies.

This new constellation will inherit and build upon proven space sustainability design and operations strategies (including end-of-life disposal programs) that have been proven in SpaceX's existing broadband satellite systems.

While launching AI satellites from Earth is the current focus, the capabilities of starships will also support the development of other planets. With technological advances such as propellant transfer in space, starships will be able to deliver large quantities of supplies to the Moon. Humans would be able to establish a permanent science and manufacturing base on the Moon. Lunar factories could build satellites from local resources and deploy them into deeper space. Through electromagnetic mass gas pedals and lunar manufacturing, 500 to 1,000 terawatts of AI satellites could be dropped into deep space each year, significantly upgrading the Kardashov civilization to truly utilize a sizable percentage of the sun's energy.

Achieving the capabilities unlocked by the Space Data Center will provide the financial and technological foundation for a self-growing base on the Moon, a complete civilization on Mars, and even cosmic expansion.

Thank you for all you have done and will do for the Cone of Consciousness Light.

Straight to the stars!
