Core Team

GALAXEA's core team brings together top talents from academia and industry, including founder and CEO Jiyang Gao and co-founder Huazhe Xu. Jiyang Gao graduated from Tsinghua University with a degree in Electronics and received his Ph.D. from USC IRIS Computer Vision Lab at the University of Southern California, where he was involved in a machine learning-based behavior prediction project at Waymo. Huazhe Xu received his postdoctoral degree from Stanford University and Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. He is currently an assistant professor at Tsinghua University's Institute for Cross-Information Studies, and is the winner of the best system paper at CoRL'23, the top conference on intelligent robotics.

Technical Philosophy

GALAXEA believes that the key performance of embodied intelligence lies in "one brain, many shapes", i.e., the hardware body is the only carrier of AI algorithm, and the AI algorithm is the most critical "brain" of the hardware body, and only through the synergy of the two can we create outstanding intelligent body products. Based on this, the company adheres to the development idea of collaborative research and development of AI algorithms and ontology, sets up ontology form from demand, and designs and manufactures ontology independently.

StarHaitu has launched several standard platform products, including:

• Universal Humanoid Robot R1 Pro: Highly intelligent and diversified forms, capable of adapting to complex environments and performing multiple tasks.
• Wheeled dual-arm mobile platform R1 lite: Lightweight and flexible, suitable for a variety of scenarios in the mobile operation needs.

In addition, the company has built a full-link embodied intelligent development platform EDP, integrating data acquisition, data management, real machine testing and other functions, significantly reducing the threshold of embodied intelligent robot development and data acquisition costs.

R&D Results

• Development of body-based modelsStarHaiMap is built around the Embodied Foundation Model-1 (EFM-1), a fast-slow dual-system modeling architecture that incorporates tens of billions of parameters of the "slow-thinking" visual language.Large Model(VLM) and "fast execution" multi-billion parameter action model (VLA) to realize closed-loop decision-making from perception and understanding to precise control. Among them, the VLA model is trained based on the world's largest single ontology dataset, focusing on breaking through the core bottleneck of embodied intelligence in action and object generalization.
• Developer Ecology BuildingSince the end of 2024, StarHub's wheeled dual-arm robot ontology has been delivered to more than 100 top developer customers at home and abroad, and is becoming the ontology platform of choice for basic body model training. Its isomorphic ontology shipments and the number of developers have rapidly risen to the first in the industry, accelerating the construction of the "ontology-data-model-application" developer application ecological closed loop.

As of July 2025, the company's Pre-A and A rounds totaled nearly RMB 1.5 billion, with the valuation of the latest rounds increasing by more than 3 times compared to the beginning of the year.
