What is ChatGPT Atlas?

ChatGPT Atlas is OpenAI Officially released on 2025-10-21, a ChatGPT-centered web pagesbrowser (software)(math.) genusFully integrates browsing, searching and intelligent conversations. Without copying, pasting, or switching pages, users can summarize, translate, rewrite, or create content by invoking ChatGPT directly from the sidebar. How to use ChatGPT Atlas?

1. Download and install
   • Visit chatgpt.com/atlas or click “Download for macOS” on the official OpenAI webpage to download the installer.
   • Once installed, open it and log in with your ChatGPT account (if you have one) or register.
   • Optionally import your current browser's bookmarks, saved passwords, history, etc. during installation (optional).
2. Familiarize yourself with the interface
   • In the new tab you'll see a search bar + ChatGPT can be the entry point for direct conversations.
   • When any web page is opened, the ChatGPT sidebar is called up on the right. You can enter questions or commands in the sidebar.
   • If you want to use Agent mode (which requires an upgrade to Plus/Pro/Business), you can enable it in Settings.
3. Enable or manage “Browser Memory”
   • In Settings → “Browser Memories”, select whether or not to enable this function.
   • When browsing the web, you can control whether the page is visible to ChatGPT by selecting “ChatGPT Page Visible” or “Invisible” in the address bar.
   • You can also view, edit, and delete stored memories in the settings.
4. Using the ChatGPT Sidebar to Ask Questions/Interact
   • On a web page, select text, images or links and click on the sidebar prompt “Ask ChatGPT about this” or manually ask “What is the main point of this page?”
   • If you are writing something, select the text and click “Edit / Rewrite” or “Translate” to let ChatGPT do it for you.
   • The sidebar also supports the “Switch to images/videos/news” option if you need to find more resources.
5. Use Agent mode (if you have permission)
   • Select “Agent Mode” in the settings or sidebar to enable it.
   • Tell ChatGPT: “Help me make a budget + airfare + lodging proposal for my trip to Europe next month” or something like that.
   • ChatGPT automatically navigates web pages, opens links, and compares options under your supervision. You can pause or take over the operation at any time.
6. Privacy/Security Settings
   • If you want to use it incognito, turn on Incognito mode. At this time, browsing history, memories, etc. will not be saved.
   • Confirm in “Data Controls” if you want to allow the use of browsed content for model training (not allowed by default).
   • Check which sites are seen by ChatGPT and whether you want to disable the visibility of certain sites.
